Abstract

In this issue, Pathania et al. (2011) report the involvement of BRCA1 in ultraviolet (UV)-damage response at stalled replication forks, which extends the function of BRCA1 beyond its established role in the repair of DNA- double-strand breaks (DSBs), raising the complexity of how this tumor suppressor maintains genomic stability.
