Abstract
Small bowel tumors are exceedingly rare. They account for about 0.4% of all cancers in the United States and nearly 2% of all gastrointestinal malignancies. Approximately 6960 new cases of small bowel cancers and 1100 patient deaths were expected to occur in the United States in 2010. Both benign and malignant tumors may arise throughout the small intestine; in addition, metastatic lesions from various primary tumors can also be seen. Small bowel cancer is a compendium of exceptionally diverse tumors with regard to histology, presentation, prognosis, and management.
