Abstract

Large composite soft tissue defects can be challenging to reconstruct especially whenever vital structures are exposed that would require large amount of healthy vascularized tissues for coverage. Whenever local or regional options for coverage are limited, free flaps are considered the preferred choice suitable for defect repair. The free chimeric serratus anterior-latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap is considered a robust and one of the most large, wide, and generous flaps that can provide enough vascularized tissue to reconstruct extensive distant defect in any location of the human body. In this chapter, we present a detailed, step-by-step, technique of raising this flap for a successful reconstruction.
