Abstract

Cholangiopancreatoscopy appears safe with minimal complications but in order to bring the desired outcome, the endoscopist should be properly trained and proficient in this endoscopic technique. There are several different techniques: single operator technique, dual operator technique, direct peroral cholangioscopy, and others. The endoscopist is required to be familiar with specifications of the scopes and a variety of miniaturized accessories specific to cholangiopancreatoscopy, such as cytology brushes, biopsy forceps, snares, photodynamic, and EHL probes. This chapter will begin with an overview of the key aspects of cholanigopancreatoscopy and then elaborate on indications, various techniques, technical instructions, possible complications, and some guidance to the trainees and instructors.
