    Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the CT and MR imaging features of esthesioneuroblastoma (ENB). The CT and MR records of 42 cases of esthesioneuroblastoma confirmed by pathology were reviewed. Two lesions were confined to the postmedian of the nasal cavity; 18 lesions were confined to the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses; 22 lesions eroded into the intracranial; there were 9 patients with cervical lymph node metastasis. The densities or signal intensities of the masses were homogeneous in 15 cases, and the other 27 cases were heterogeneous. It showed enhancement on contrast images in 42 cases, including heterogeneous enhancement in 32 cases. The preliminary study results suggest that esthesioneuroblastoma often locats in the postmedian of the nasal cavity, with the marked enhancement on the contrast image. CT and MR easily show the destruction of the walls of ethmoidal sinuses and the extension of the mass into orbit and brain, and the cervical lymph node metastasis is rare.
