Cytotoxic styrylpyrones of Goniothalamus amuyon

    Abstract

    A novel cytotoxic styrylpyrone, goniodiol 8-monoacetate[6R-(7R,8R-dihydro-7-hydroxy-8-acetoxystyryl)-5,6-dihydro-2-pyrone], together with a known mild cytotoxic styrylpyrone, goniotriol, have been isolated from the leaves of Goniothalamus amuyon. The structure of goniodiol 8-monoacetate was elucidated from spectral data and chemical evidence.
