    Abstract

Functional bracing in the management of fractures was introduced about 20 years ago and is now widely used in several countries. In Norway, however, the method is used rather infrequently. The article mentions the basic principles of this treatment. A method for managing fractures of the shaft of the humerus is shown and the practical details are discussed. Functional bracing may be used to advantage in the treatment of various fractures of the extremities. For the treatment of fractures of the shaft of the humerus we consider it the method of choice.
