Abstract

The introduction of the LMA into clinical practice more than 10 years ago has had a noted impact on current anesthetic practices. Though initially the LMA was recommended as a better alternative to the facemask for airway management in anesthetized patients, its clinical applications have now greatly expanded to benefit virtually every subspecialty of anesthesia.
