Importantly, bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells interact with tumor cells, and these interactions trigger a series of signaling responses that ultimately favor tumor progression and survival. In this chapter, we will describe how the stroma can influence tumor fate and also how we can utilize these stromal cells to deliver antitumoral therapeutic agents based on their innate tropism for tumors and injury sites.",
