Prognosis of endometrial cancer

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

A wide variety of prognostic variables for recurrence and death from endometrial cancer exist. It can be difficult to isolate the importance of any single factor and certainly the presence of multiple poor prognostic variables portends a worse outcome. For that reason, nomograms have been developed to incorporate multiple prognostic factors in an objective manner for predicting recurrence. For example, one such tool combines age, FIGO stage, tumor grade and histology, the presence of LVSI, and depth of myometrial invasion to predict a 3-year probability of isolated locoregional and distant relapse (Figure 13.1) [65]. Other nomograms exist to help integrate all potential prognostic factors to help guide patient education and adjuvant therapy [66,67].
