Abstract
The ulnar artery perforator forearm flap (UAPFF) shares many of its properties with the radial artery forearm flap by providing versatile, thin, pliable, and sensate skin used for soft tissues defects used through free tissue transfer based on large caliber vessels. The ulnar flap has several potential further advantages over the radial forearm flap. The flap skin is virtually hairless and the donor site morbidity is minor compared to that of the radial forearm donor area. The flap donor area defect is easier to close, it is less obvious and conspicuous in a relatively more hidden area on the proximal ulnar aspect of the forearm with less residual nerve deficit of the hand. In this chapter we describe in detail the operative sequence of the surgical technique for a successful harvest of the UAPFF used for free tissue transfer.
