Abstract
Key Points 1. Xerostomia is the subjective complaint of dry mouth that may or may not be associated with salivary gland hypofunction. 2. Patients with xerostomia can experience a wide range of symptoms that can have significant impact on quality of life. 3. The cause of xerostomia is multifactorial, and thorough evaluation must be completed to identify the source. 4.Treatment focuseson symptom improvement via salivary gland stimulation and/or substitution to prevent significant oral morbidity. Multiple treatment options are available and are reviewed in this chapter.
