Abstract
The authors report an unusual case of Spurious Polycythaemia (Gaisbocks Syndrome), presenting as an acute spontaneous extradural haematoma, which required prompt surgical evacuation. The possible pathogenetic mechanisms involved are discussed. It was also concluded that Magnetic Resonance Imaging was superior to Computerized Tomography in making a radiological diagnosis.
