Abstract
The keys to an aesthetically successful mandible reconstruction are accurate shaping of the mandible reconstruction plate, accurate alignment of the bone, and maintenance of the lower border of the mandible. If only the mandible and overlying soft tissue are missing, the patient can expect an excellent aesthetic outcome. If the defect is massive with a lot of soft tissue missing, an aesthetically pleasing outcome is more difficult to obtain. In this article, the techniques required to obtain a good, functional cosmetic result are reviewed.
