Abstract
Detailed understanding of molecular and cellular mechanisms of interactions between host immune cells and cancer cells led us to the development of cancer immunotherapeutics, one of the greatest achievements in the life sciences. In this chapter, we review how tumor cells acquire resistance to host anti-tumor immunity and the cancer immunotherapy modalities approved by the FDA or in preclinical studies/clinical trials. Finally, we discuss the future of cancer immunotherapy.
