Abstract

Knowledge of the lymphatic drainage pathways, vascular anatomy, distribution of the parathyroid glands, and course of the recurrent laryngeal nerves is important for the safe and complete dissection of the paratracheal and upper mediastinal lymphatics for malignancies of the larynx, hypopharynx, cervical esophagus, and thyroid gland.
