Abstract

The field of contrast agents for ultrasound is rapidly evolving with multiple contrast agents being tested and developed for enhancement of extra- corporeal ultrasound and echocardiographic images. There is some emerging data now on the use of contrast agents during endoscopic ultrasound. This paper provides an overview of ultrasound contrast agents, discusses the data available so far on the use of these agents' during endosonography and provides an insight into the potential clinical uses of contrast enhanced endosonography.
