Abstract

INTRODUCTION The left hypochondriac and epigastric regions of the abdomen are involved with metastatic disease in more than 60% of patients with advanced ovarian cancer (1). Anatomic proximity of the greater omentum and gastrocolic ligament to the spleen, pancreatic tail, transverse colon, left hemidiaphragm, and stomach predisposes patients to tumor spread by contiguous extension. The splenic hilum, the left hemidiaphragm, and, in rare occasions, the stomach are also a site of independent metastases.
