Does postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy reduce biochemical progression after radical prostatectomy?

Research output: Contribution to journalShort surveypeer-review

Abstract

In summary, two randomized studies have clearly shown the benefit of postoperative adjuvant radiation in prostate cancer patients. Comparing the radiation dose and techniques applied in these studies with what is presently possible, there is potential for even larger gains. Patients undergo prostatectomy with curative intent, believing in the importance of local tumor control. To offer them more than one treatment modality to accomplish this, when necessary, should now become standard practice.
