Abstract

Fiducials are metallic or liquid markers that are implanted near or into a target tumor and serve as reference points for image-guided radiotherapy. EUS has evolved as the preferred approach for fiducial markers placement for lesions within or adjacent to the gastrointestinal lumen. EUS-guided fiducial placement is a safe and feasible procedure with high technical success rates. Various types of fiducial markers and placement techniques have been developed. The decision to incorporate fiducial markers in the treatment plan of a patient depends on the multidisciplinary collaboration.
