Free anterolateral thigh flap for pharyngoesophageal reconstruction

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

Pharyngoesophageal defects reconstruction using a jejunal has been almost abandoned. Due to its ease of harvest, low rate of morbidity and complications, the free anterolateral thigh flap has become the most common modality of reconstruction for such defects followed by the free radial forearm flap. In this chapter, we describe step by step all the essential steps for a successful flap harvest, inset, and reconstruction of partial or total pharyngoesophageal defects post cancer ablation surgery for laryngeal cancer.
