Abstract

Head and neck pathology is a diverse field encompassing thyroid, parathyroid, salivary, the upper aerodigestive tract, odontogenic, sinonasal, and skull base regions. Understanding the differential diagnosis based on morphologic features and anatomic site is critical. Key diagnoses including reactive, benign, and malignant entities for each anatomic site are detailed in this head and neck chapter highlighting histologic features and variants of the disease entities. Pearls are provided emphasizing additional points and potential pitfalls. Becoming familiar with related diagnoses for critical comparison in the differential diagnosis will broaden your understanding of head and neck pathology.
