Abstract
Recent dramatic improvement of survival of Gastrointestinal stromal tumor patients alongside the development of a new targeted treatment has made the role of imaging increasingly more important not only in diagnosing the disease, but also in monitoring the treatment effect and surveillance. Computed tomography is currently the imaging modality of choice for these purposes. This article reviews the current roles of different imaging modalities in clinical management of the gastrointestinal stromal tumors. J. Surg. Oncol. 2011; 104:907-914.
