Abstract

Nontraumatic spinal emergencies (NTSE) present with acute, rapid onset of neurological symptoms without an inciting traumatic event. Pathologies intrinsic and extrinsic to the spinal cord can result in acute neurological deterioration, which generally requires prompt diagnosis, and in some patients requires acute intervention, to sustain function.
