N2 - Diagnostic imaging is frequently used to evaluate the patient who has or may have an infection or other inflammatory lesion in the neck. In fact, these diagnoses and their differentiation from tumor may only be made after a careful radiological evaluation. This review will illustrate the imaging appearance of many of the common inflammatory conditions that may arise in the neck. In most, but not all cases, CT is the imaging study of choice in the initial work-up of this patient population.
