    Abstract

    The International Association for Hospice and Palliative Care (IAHPC) is a global not for profit organization, dedicated to the development, promotion and to increase the availability of and access to Palliative Care. IAHPC is the only palliative care organization with a global scope which includes all the regions of the world and has developed programs and projects with the capacity of having a long term effect at the local and national level. Some of these include the Traveling Fellowship Program, the Clearing House Program and the Twinning and Hosting Program. This article describes its sources of funding, its history and the main program and future projects that the organization offers as part of its five year strategic plan developed in 2001 as well as its relationship with other existing regional and local Palliative Care programs.
