Abstract

This article introduces 27 chapters about treatment of the increasing number of individuals who have completed their cancer treatment and are considered long-term survivors. The number of cancer survivors in the United States is now estimated to be nearly 13 million (approximately 4 % of the population), and the number is continually growing. The chapters discuss survivorship of numerous types of cancer as well as lifestyle, legal, and communication issues.
