Abstract
Laboratory evaluation of tumors arising in children and adolescents entails particular considerations regarding tissue handling and the use of ancillary techniques. This chapter highlights such considerations while providing a basic overview of techniques perused by pathologists handling pediatric cancer samples. A critical element of optimal healthcare delivery entails an understanding of basic technical principles used by members of the multidisciplinary team caring for a young patient with cancer. This chapter aims to provide non-pathologists with an overview of such principles.
