    Abstract

In this chapter, we describe the tools necessary to build, maintain, and manage a behavioral management program for nonhuman primates, including (1) the types of approaches (project-oriented, section-wide, and facility-wide) that will help build a solid foundation and (2) the strategies (reactive and proactive) that can increase your success in managing. We provide examples of the use of both reactive and proactive strategies, underscore the need to understand how animal regulations can support your program, and discuss ways to overcome obstacles in managing.
