Abstract

The use of noninvasive mechanical ventilation in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) management is less well understood than invasive mechanical ventilation. Studies suggest that first-line NIV treatment in ARDS can prevent the need for endotracheal intubation depending on clinical conditions. The helmet interface for NIV delivery demonstrates promising outcomes in ARDS with reduced need for intubation and improved mortality.
