Abstract

We know how to provide appropriate health care for nonhuman primates (NHPs), but our goal is always to make it better. We are constantly looking for new ways to improve their health care, whether that involves the use of new analgesics, the integration of new therapeutics, or improved diagnostic testing. One tool we have to enhance the health care of NHPs is the implementation of positive reinforcement training (PRT). PRT is a powerful tool that can be and is being used to enhance the health care and well-being of NHPs.
