Abstract

This chapter presents a series of questions and answers on Primary brain tumors. It commences with a discourse on the basis of the current classification system for primary brain tumors and the limits of this classification system, and ends with the method for distinguishing treatment-related necrosis from true tumor progression. The chapter also discusses on the clinically relevant molecular markers, the likely future role of molecular signatures in the diagnosis of malignant brain tumors, emerging biomarkers in glioblastoma, and the established prognostic factors for patients with glioblastoma.
