Abstract

Published evidence justifying effectiveness and fairness of oral examinations for licensure as a psychologist is sparse across jurisdictions that exercise the power to implement these examinations. This study used a variety of methodologies and design strategies, including generalizability analyses, to identify extraneous sources of inconsistency in the Texas oral examination on a sample of 104 candidates for psychology licensure. Suggestions are provided for reducing inconsistency and for enhancing effectiveness and fairness of the oral examination.
