Recipient Vessels: Femur Reconstruction

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

The free fibula is the gold standard for vascularized reconstruction of long bones of the extremity. Appropriate selection of recipient vessels is an important determinant of pedicle orientation and graft positioning. Due to the abundance of deep femoral and superficial femoral vascular branches, end-to-end anastomoses are highly possible. When radical resection or trauma has rendered this not feasible, end-to-side anastomoses and arteriovenous loop grafting are reliable techniques.
