Abstract
A patient with acute leukemia who developed Listeria monocytogenes meningitis on two occasions is reported. During the first episode he was able to respond with adequate granulocytes in his cerebrospinal fluid; he recovered on antibiotic therapy. The second episode occurred when he was severely granulocytopenic and he died of his infection. This apparently is the first reported case of recurrent listeria meningitis.
