Abstract
The omental vascularized lymph node transplant (VLNT) is becoming an increasingly popular alternative to peripheral lymph node flaps due to avoidance of any risk of donor site lymphedema. It is highly versatile and can be tailored to the requirements of the recipient site; uniquely, it also has the ability to be divided into two flaps on predictable vascular pedicles for dual-level lymph node transplantation. Minimally invasive flap harvest techniques, in particular using laparoscopic approaches, reduce donor site morbidity. This article reviews the indications, anatomy, patient selection, and surgical techniques for laparoscopic and open omental flap harvest.
