Tracheostomy: Demystifying an ancient technique

Abstract

Tracheostomy is an essential surgical procedure for upper airway management, especially during the immediate post-operative period for certain laryngeal procedures. Although many different techniques have been described for performing a tracheostomy, the procedure described here can be performed quickly and efficiently to gain control of the airway.
