Abstract

Clinical research has provided both insights into the biology of malignancy and therapeutic approaches that will eradicate cancer in at least half of the million patients who will be diagnosed in the United States this year. New tactics are being pursued for those with advanced metastases. Biological therapy and gene therapy hold much promise.
