Abstract
Nonrhabdomyosarcoma soft fissue sarcomas account for approximately 40% of all soft tissue sarcomas in children. Although these tumors are typically grouped together, individual tumor types with different biological characteristics have been found that may impact on the optimal therapy for each type of sarcoma in the future. Most of the current information regarding this tumor comes from the adult literature. Wide local excision appears to provide the best chance of cure. Future studies are needed to determine which adjuvant therapies are most useful in improving local control and overall survival in the different subsets of patients.
