Abstract
The usefulness of ultrasound in patients with ovarian carcinoma has been discussed. An attempt has been made to define the advantages and problems encountered in performing the examinations and interpreting the scan data. The ultrasonic examination of the entire peritoneal cavity was stressed. At this time the clinical and ultrasonic data are complementary. More correlations with operative and autopsy findings are still needed to establish the efficacy of this unique tool in the diagnosis and management of the patient with disseminated ovarian carcinoma.
